To Our Generous Supporter:
Your donation to NAMI Kern County is greatly appreciated. We would like to thank you for your ongoing support towards our mission of Support, Education and Advocacy. As we, NAMI Kern County, grow and expand our programs; no donation is ever to small or too large. As always all of our support groups, educational classes, conferences and community events are at no cost. With your donation we can continue to offer these wonderful tools to our community.
Here is a list of programs we currently offer:
- FAMILY TO FAMILY – 12 week educational course for the FAMILY MEMBERS of those afflicted with a mental illness
- PEER TO PEER – 10 week educational course for those that are afflicted with a mental illness
- FAMILY SUPPORT GROUPS – Held twice monthly in Bakersfield, along with outlying areas, Tehachapi, Ridgecrest
- CONSUMER/PEER SUPPORT GROUPS - Held weekly in Bakersfield, Lake Isabella and Tehachapi; for those AFFLICTED WITH A MENTAL ILLNESS.
- NAMI FaithNet – An outreach to Faith-Based Ministries in Kern County. Their mission is to bring awareness about recovery and to overcome the stigma of mental illness.
- NAMI Kern County’s Front Line – Outreach to Veterans, their families and loved ones. Support Groups held weekly in Bakersfield and monthly in Tehachapi. Quartley Conferences and monthly collaborative meetings.
- NAMI Kern County’s Out Spoken Young Minds (OSYM) – A support group held weekly for our youth ages 16-26 with mental Illness. Weekly support groups also held for the parents/family Members of these OSYM youth. Quartley conferences, along with monthly collaborative meetings.
- CRIMINAL JUSTICE RESOURCES- If you find your loved one involved with the criminal justice system , there is help. This is an ongoing project and is interned as a “one stop shop” when we need criminal justice information.
- IN OUR OWN VOICE-A unique public education program developed by NAMI, in which trained consumer speakers share compelling personal stories about living with mental illness and achieving recovery.
We also hold monthly affiliate information meetings open to the community, membership is not required to attend ANY of our programs, support groups or meetings.
